Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Susan Rod studied Music and Art at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She and her husband moved to Calgary in 1966 where they’ve lived ever since.

She has owned a violin shop where violins were repaired and built. As a multi-disciplined artist, she has won awards for her carvings and has published several articles in “Wildfowl Carving” magazine.

Recently she has completed a major project combining building a harpsichord and decorating it with her skillfully and accurately painted botanicals and landscapes.

Detail and a meticulously studied approach are the cornerstones of her work.

She has shown her work at Framed on Fifth, a small gallery in Calgary.
